Patter is an image that represents the many sensory and everyday distractions of life, especially the "fast forward" visuals of the modern world. There is great beauty to be appreciated, but there is much to miss when images, thoughts, responsibilities and time are whizzing by. No one has the time or bandwidth to really see everything that comes into our field of vision or consider every distraction that's thrown our way. This piece invites the viewer to think about how to decide what we spend time considering, savoring, and reflecting on, and just as importantly, how to make that a mindful decision.

My genre is mixed media photography-based digital art. I start with my digital photos, and use digital technology to modify them. Sometimes what I photograph represents just the seed of an idea, or the broad outlines of a composition I wish to complete, so the final image may not end up resembling the original photo.
