JoAnn Adinolfi was born and raised in New York City, a happy member of a hard-working, loving Italian-American family. Many carefree days she played in her Pop's garden amidst a collage of nature and objects. Under the peach tree grew a bathtub; next to the chicken coop, a pile of porcelain sinks took root; where the rabbits lived, the peony bushes bloomed as a cool umbrella of grape leaves weaved through a supportive network of rusty pipes. JoAnn calls upon those magical surroundings to guide her representations of our complex, beautiful world through which she expresses a love of nature, environmental concerns, moral questions, family connections, prejudice, social injustice, grief, joy, and, most of all, resilience.
